Five Below Recalls Tabletop Fire Pits

In September 2025, the discount retailer Five Below announced a recall for about 66,000 tabletop fire pits due to serious burn injury and fire hazards, including:

  • Flash-fires
  • Flame jetting
  • Flames growing much larger or hotter than expected
  • Flames escaping from the fire pit and spreading
  • Uncontrollable fires when a tabletop fire pit tips over and spills burning liquid fuel
  • And more

What is Flame Jetting?

Flame-jetting is one of the most dangerous safety hazards of tabletop fire pits. This is a sudden and possibly violent flash-fire that can occur when pouring liquid alcohol from a container over an exposed flame.

The exposed flame may be invisible or very small, and many people not aware that their tabletop fire pit is still on fire when they try to pour in more liquid fuel in an attempt to re-light their tabletop fire pit.

What Happened?

No injuries were reported as of September 2025, but Five Below said it received one report of “flames escaping from a tabletop fire pit.”

Five Below also warned about severe, life-threatening safety hazards from tabletop fire pits, such as:

“Alcohol fuel can splash or leak out of the fire pit reservoir during use and/or ignition, causing a flash fire that can spread and create larger hotter flames that can escape the unit, presenting risk of serious burn injury from flame jetting and fire hazards.”

How To Identify Tabletop Fire Pits Recalled by Five Below

The recall involves two models of tabletop fire pits that were sold at Five Below stores nationwide between April 2024 and August 2025.

Both models look like small concrete pots, but one has a smooth black exterior, and the other has a beveled gray exterior. They both include a stainless-steel fuel cup, a lid and a flame cover.

Five Below provided the following information to identify the recalled fire pits:

  • Smooth Black Fire Pits: Packaged in a box that is blue, yellow and white. The front of the box has “Tabletop Fire Pit” printed in white letters. The back of the box has UPC 1922343012788 and tracking number FO031124.
  • Beveled Gray Fire Pits: Packaged in a green box. The front of the box has the words: “Outdoor,” “Easy Modern” and “Cement Tabletop Firepit.” The back of the box has UPC 1922346316838 and tracking number FO011925.

Can I Get a Refund?

Yes. Customers should immediately stop using the recalled tabletop fire pits and contact Five Below to receive a full refund equal to the purchase price or $5.

What Are Tabletop Fire Pits?

Tabletop fire pits are small concrete pots that are designed to burn a pool of liquid fuel in a reservoir. The fuel is usually highly-flammable isopropyl alcohol (also known as “rubbing alcohol”). Tabletop fire pits are advertised as tabletop decor or s’mores roasting fire pits.

Tabletop fire pits are also called fire pots, miniature fireplaces, or portable fires for indoor use. There are dozens of products currently on the market in the U.S. and they are sold by a wide range of retailers, despite the safety hazards and a growing number of recalls.

What is the Risk?

Safety officials are urging people to immediately stop using all types of liquid fuel-burning tabletop fire pits due to fire hazards and burn injury risks. These products are “extremely dangerous” and have been linked to 2 deaths and at least 60 serious burn injuries since 2019, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
