CPSC Warning: Stop Using Rozato Fire Pits
In April 2026, the CPSC issued an urgent warning urging consumers to immediately stop using Rozato Tabletop Fire Pits because they can produce flame jetting and uncontrolled pool fires, resulting in serious or fatal burns. The products have been linked to 1 death and multiple burn injuries.
Can I Get a Refund?
Rozato refused to agree to a voluntary recall, so the CPSC issued its warning without the company’s cooperation, which is a significant step. This is a sign that the agency determined the risk to be serious enough to act unilaterally, without an officials recall from the manufacturer in China.
Where Were They Sold?
The Rozato Tabletop Fire Pits were sold online at Rozato.Store, Amazon.com, StoreDune.com, StovesDirect.com, RetailMarket.net, and other websites from 2022 to present, for about $15 to $70. The products are manufactured in China.
What Makes These Fire Pits Dangerous
Rozato fire pits require consumers to pour liquid fuel, such as isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol or ethanol, directly into an open container and then ignite the pooled liquid in the same location. According to the CPSC, this design can create two distinct and life-threatening hazards.
The first is an uncontrolled pool fire, which occurs when igniting the pooled alcohol suddenly produces larger, hotter flames that spread beyond the fire pit. The second is flame jetting — a sudden explosion of burning liquid that erupts from the fuel container when a hidden flame ignites the vapor as the consumer is refueling. Alcohol burns with a nearly invisible flame, making it extremely difficult to confirm the fire is fully out.
The agency states that isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, and similar liquid fuels burn at temperatures exceeding 1,600°F and can cause third-degree burns in less than one second. Products designed this way violate voluntary safety standard ASTM F3363-19.
Who Is Legally Responsible
The Rozato Tabletop Fire Pits are manufactured in China, and Rozato itself has declined to cooperate with a recall. However, the manufacturer is not the only potentially liable party.
Amazon.com is a confirmed distribution channel for the Rozato fire pits. In recent years, courts have increasingly held that Amazon can face product liability when it facilitates the sale and fulfillment of dangerous products through its marketplace, espeically when the company continued selling products linked to safety concerns.
For example, a product liability lawsuit has been filed in Texas federal court naming Amazon as a defendant in a separate tabletop fire pit flame-jetting case (Pearson v. Amazon.com Services LLC, W.D. Tex., March 2026). Anyone in the distribution chain, including Amazon and other online retailers that sold Rozato product, may bear liability for injuries linked to the product’s dangerous design.
A Broader Epidemic of Tabletop Fire Pit Burns
The Rozato warning follows a wave of CPSC action against alcohol-fueled tabletop fire pits. In December 2024, the CPSC issued a sweeping consumer alert warning that alcohol-burning tabletop fire pits across the entire product category had been linked to two deaths and at least 60 injuries since 2019.
In October 2024, the CPSC recalled approximately 89,500 Colsen-branded tabletop fire pits after at least 19 people were burned — including multiple victims who suffered third-degree burns over more than 40% of their bodies. Several required surgery and burn unit care, and faced permanent disfigurement. Colsen stated it lacked the financial resources to offer affected consumers a remedy.
FLIKRFIRE Tabletop Fireplaces were linked to two deaths, including an elderly couple who were fatally burned after a third person attempted to refuel a fire pit that appeared to be extinguished. The FLIKR LLC company subsequently went out of business.
What Consumers Should Do
The CPSC urges consumers who own any Rozato Tabletop Fire Pit to stop using the product immediately and dispose of it. Do not sell or give away these products. Any incidents involving injuries or defects can be reported to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov.
