How to Stop a Truck With No Brakes

  • Do not panic or overreact
  • Take your foot off the accelerator
  • Try pumping the brakes
  • If that does not work, slowly use the parking brake
  • Keep the brakes squeezed to the floor
  • Downshift into low gear
  • Do not turn off the ignition — that could shut off power-steering and lock the wheel
  • Carefully move out of traffic and get off the road
  • Warn other drivers and pedestrians using your horn and lights
