HSN Smartwatches Recalled for Fire & Burn Hazards
In August 2025, about 2,900 Altafit Smartwatches that were sold by HSN were recalled after reports of burn injuries and fires when the wireless charging pad short-circuited, overheated, or caught on fire.
What is the Problem?
The problem is that the smartwatch’s wireless charging pad can overheat and ignite when the smartwatch is being charged, which poses a fire hazard and a risk of serious burn injuries.
How Many People Were Burned?
There were 39 reports of the recalled smartwatches melting, burning and catching on fire while charging, including 6 people who were burned on their hands.
Fire Hazard Linked to Electrical Short-Circuit
The recall was announced by the smartwatch manufacturer, Deale International of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Deale International is voluntarily fast recalling its Altafit AF28 smartwatch because, this product can create a short if the metal mesh band is in contact with the charging prongs on the included usb charger posing a burn or fire hazard.”
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled Altafit Smartwatches were sold online at HSN.com from March 2025 through May 2025 for about $50.
How To Identify Recalled Smartwatches
The recall involves Altafit Smartwatches (Model AF28). The watches have “ALTAFIT FCC ID 2BHG8-AF28” on the back.
They are gold and silver in color, with a 1.68-inch color touchscreen, two watch-bands, a gold-colored case, and a wireless charging pad with a USB cable.
What Should I Do?
Deale International is urging customers to immediately unplug the smartwatch’s charging pad, stop charging the recalled smartwatch, and register for a free replacement charger.
You can visit the recall website at https://thedeale.com/pages/altafit-safety-recall for instructions on how to register for a replacement.
