May 8, 2024 — The supermarket chain Hy-Vee recalled two types of store-brand Hy-Vee Cream Cheese and Cookies & Cream Mix due to a risk of Salmonella contamination.
No illnesses were reported, but infections with Salmonella can potentially be severe or even life-threatening, especially for people who are very young, elderly, or have pre-existing health problems.
The recalled cream cheese products were distributed to to Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore, Dollar Fresh Market, and Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh convenience stores in 8 states across the Midwest.
The states include Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
The recall involves Hy-Vee Whipped Cream Cheese Spread (8 oz.) with a UPC 0075450096132 and a Use-By/Best-By Dates of 8/7/2024 and 8/14/2024.
The recall also includes Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread (12 oz.) with UPC 0075450096120 and a Use-By Date 10/1/2024.
Hy-Vee also recalled Hy-Vee To Go Cookies & Cream Mix (4 oz.) and Hy-Vee Cookies & Cream Mix (16 oz.) with Use-By Dates of 12/1/2024 and 12/5/2024, and Lot Numbers 24073, 24101, 24117, 24073, 24101, and 24117.
Hy-Vee is urging customers who bought these recalled products to throw them out or return them to their local Hy-Vee store for a refund.
