Hy-Vee Pasta Salad Salmonella Outbreak
In July 2018, the FDA reported that Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad was linked to an outbreak of Salmonella that sickened at least 21 people in Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
How Many People Got Sick?
The outbreak of Salmonella sickened 21 people in the following 5 states since June 23, 2018: Iowa (8), Minnesota (7), Missouri (1), Nebraska (4), South Dakota (1). Five people were hospitalized. No deaths were reported.
Hy-Vee Pasta Salad Recall
On July 17, 2018, Hy-Vee Inc. announced a voluntary recall for Spring Pasta Salads in both 1 pound (16 oz.) and 3 pound (48 oz.) containers produced between June 1, 2018, and July 13, 2018, and available from the deli service case.
Where Was the Pasta Salad Sold?
The pasta salad was distributed to all of Hy-Vee’s 244 grocery stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. It comes in a plastic container with a plastic lid. Expiration dates range from June 22, 2018 to August 3, 2018.
