IcyBreeze Buddy Misting Fans Recalled for Fire Hazard

In September 2025, the Texas-based company IcyBreeze Cooling LLC has announced a voluntary recall for about 22,600 IcyBreeze Buddy Portable Cooling Misting Fans that can overheat and catch on fire when it is being charged.

What Happened?

There were 7 reports of the IcyBreeze Buddy Misting Fans overheating while charging, including 2 reports of fires. According to the recall information for the product:

“Under certain conditions, the system may experience an electrical overload, which could pose a safety risk. While no serious incidents have been reported, we are taking proactive steps to protect our customers by removing all Buddy units from the market.”

What is the Risk?

No injuries were reported, but the problem poses a fire hazard and a risk of burn injuries. Electrical devices that malfunction and ignite could also spark a fire that spreads inside a home, residential building, gym, or other facility, resulting in property damage.

How To Identify IcyBreeze Buddy Cooling Fans

The recall involves the IcyBreeze Buddy, a battery-operated misting fan that is equipped with a 1.5-liter water tank. It was advertised to be used in gyms, sporting events, pets, and more.

The fan can be powered with a cord that plugs into the wall, or a removable 10,000mAh lithium-ion battery for up to 7 hours of outdoor use. The name “ICYBREEZE” is printed on the fan itself and the base. The product was sold in colors like gray, slate blue, and seafoam.

Where Were They Sold?

IcyBreeze Buddy Cooling Fans were sold nationwide from November 2023 through August 2024 for about $150 online at www.icybreeze.com and www.Amazon.com.

Can I Get a Refund?

No. Instead of a refund, the manufacturer is offering a $150 credit that can be used at specific websites owned by Solo Brands.

What Should I Do?

The manufacturer is urging customers to immediately stop using and charging the recalled IcyBreeze Buddy Cooling Fans. Do not dispose of it until you have received your $150 credit.
