IKEA Power Banks Recalled for Fire Hazard
In August 2024, IKEA recalled about 1,600 VARMFRONT Power Banks due to a fire hazard and a risk of burn injuries.
What is the Problem?
IKEA warned that the recalled power banks can overheat and catch on fire. IKEA said it received 3 reports of incidents globally. No injuries were reported. No incidents or injuries were reported in the U.S.
How To Identify Recalled Power Banks
The recalled power banks have a lithium-ion battery that can overheat.
This recall involves two IKEA VARMFRONT Power Banks with model numbers E2037 and E2038. The power banks are blue in color. The model number is listed at the top of the back side of the power banks.
When Were They Sold?
VARMFRONT power banks were sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online at www.IKEA.com from July 2023 through March 2024 for between $17 and $30.
The recall involves about 1,600 power banks that were sold in the U.S., plus another 1,690 sold in Canada.
What Should I Do?
IKEA is urging customers to immediately stop using the recalled power banks and return it to any IKEA store for a free replacement product or a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required for a refund.
