iStore Power Banks Recalled After $15,000 in Damage
In July 2025, thousands of iStore Magnetic Wireless Power Banks were recalled because they can overheat, catch on fire, explode, and cause severe burn injuries. These incidents caused about $15,000 in property damage, according to the recall.
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled iStore Power Banks were sold in airport vending machines and stores located in various airports nationwide, and also online at iStore.co, between February 2023 through May 2025.
What Happened?
There were 3 reports of the lithium-ion battery inside the power banks overheating and exploding while it was charging. One person suffered a minor burn injury on their arm. There was also about $15,000 in property damage.
How To Identify iStore Power Banks
The recall involves the following iStore Power Banks:
- iStore Magnetic Wireless Power Bank
- 5000 mAh portable charger
- The “iStore” logo is engraved on the front side of the power bank
- Model number IST-09991/W05
- Power banks measure about 3″ by 2″ by 0.25″ and weigh around 3.2 ounces
Canada Recalls iStore Power Banks
iStore power banks were also recalled in Canada after incidents were reported: “As of May 30, 2025, the company has received 1 reported incident in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 2 reports of injury, including one report of a minor burn.”
Can I Get a Refund?
Yes. Customers who own a recalled iStore Power Bank can visit the recall website https://www.tomauri.com/pages/battery-recall to participate in the recall.
You will be asked to register and submit photos. One photo will be the back of the power bank with the model number. The other photo will be the front of the power bank with “RECALLED” on it and the date.
