Kareem Mart Halva Recall
In March 2021, Kareem Mart, of Garden City, Michigan, recalled tubs of Kareem Chef® Halva due to a risk of Salmonella bacteria contamination.
What Halva Was Recalled for Salmonella?
The recall involves 1-pound and 2-pound tubs of Kareem Chef® Halva, Halva with Pistachio, Halva with Chocolate food treats.
The halva was distributed between March 2020 and February 2021 by Mediterranean food stores and wholesalers in 7 states: Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, New York, Ohio, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
The recalled halva was labeled with “Best Before 07-01-2022.”
What is the Problem?
No illnesses were reported in connection with this recall. The potential Salmonella contamination was discovered during routine testing by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), according to the FDA recall notice.
Kareem Mart Recalls
This is the second recall from Kareem Mart in March 2021. On March 2, the company previously announced another recall for Tahina (Ground Sesame Paste) after a product tested positive for Salmonella bacteria contamination.
