March 23, 2020 — Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA issued a recall for about 80,000 Kawasaki MULE PRO off-highway vehicles due to a crash hazard.
The recall was issued because the steering shaft can develop excessive wear and affect steering control, resulting in a crash hazard.
Kawasaki has received 453 reports of steering problem incidents, but no injuries were reported.
This recall involves 2015 to 2020 model-year MULE PRO-FX, MULE PRO-FXR, MULE PRO-FXT. Kawasaki is also recalling 2016 to 2020 model-year MULE PRO-DX and MULE PRO-DXT utility vehicles.
The off-road vehicles were sold at Kawasaki dealers nationwide from July 2014 through January 2020 for between $12,000 and $17,000.
Kawasaki is asking consumers to stop using the recalled utility vehicles and contact a Kawasaki dealer to schedule a free repair.
