March 23, 2021 — A man who was burned by a NuWave Nutri-Pot Pressure Cooker has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer.
The lawsuit was filed against NuWave LLC by Alex B., a man from South Branch, Michigan, who was injured by a NuWave Nutri-Pot 6-Quart Digital Pressure Cooker on April 8, 2019.
According to the lawsuit, his injuries occurred when he was able to easily twist open the lid when the pressure cooker was still under pressure, which allowed “its scalding hot contents to be forcefully ejected from the pressure cooker” and onto his body.
Furthermore, he blames his injuries on the failure of the pressure cooker’s “Sure-Lock® Safety System,” which is advertised to keep consumers safe when using the NuWave Nutri-Pot.
NuWave is accused of making false representations about “safety,” that are misleading and put innocent consumers in harm’s way, the lawsuit claims.
The lawsuit also accuses NuWave of failing to recall the Nutri-Pot or redesign it to prevent the lid from being rotated and opened while there is still pressure inside the Nutri-Pot.
The Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed against NuWave LLC on March 15, 2021 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Eastern Division) — Case Number 1:21-cv-01415.
