Ozona Organics Probiotics Recalled for Health Risk
In August 2023, Ozona Organics LLC recalled certain Liquid Probiotics for adults and toddlers due to a risk of infections from microbial growth.
What is the Problem?
No illnesses were reported, but the recalled probiotics have “high water activity in the formula that provides a potential for microbial growth, which may be harmful,” according to the recall notice.
What Probiotics Were Recalled?
The recall involves the following products for adults and children:
- Ozona Probiotics for Digestive Health: Liquid probiotics that came in 4-ounce, blue glass bottles and 16-ounce, blue plastic bottles
- GoHealthy Probiotics for Infants, Toddlers and Kids: Liquid probiotics that came in 2-ounce, blue glass bottles.
- GoHealthy Probiotics for Infants, Kids, Men and Women: Liquid probiotics that came in 4-ounce, blue glass bottles.
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled probiotics for adults and children were sold at Walmart stores and websites, including www.gohealthy.us and www.amazon.com.
Ozona Organics also recalled all probiotics for animals. These products include Ozona Organics Dog, Cat, Equine, and Swine Probiotics that were distributed from August 2021 through July 2023.
What is the Risk?
Several recalls have been issued for liquid probiotics that could make you sick. For example, in October 2021, a recall was issued for MaryRuth’s Liquid Probiotic for Infants due to a risk of deadly infections with the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This bacteria is commonly found in soil and water, but infections are extremely dangerous because they are highly resistant to most antibiotics.
