Costco Recalls Peaches for Salmonella Risk
On August 22, Costco recalled boxes of peaches from Prima® and Wawona® due to a risk of Salmonella. The recall involves pack-dates between May 27, 2020 and August 1, 2020, including the following items:
- White Peaches (Item #89407)
- Organic White Peaches (Item #17895)
- Yellow Peaches (Item #45518)
- Organic Yellow Peaches (Item #23193)
Russ Davis Recalls Peach Salsa
On August 25, Russ Davis Wholesale recalled Peach Salsas that were sold under the brand-names Crazy Fresh®, Quick & Easy® and Perfectly Peach® due to a risk of Salmonella.
he salsas were delivered to stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wyoming. Some containers may have been sold at the deli counter at grocery stores located in Ortonville, MN, Cross Lake, MN and Tipton, IA.
Peaches Linked to Salmonella Outbreak
Health officials in the U.S. are investigating a 12-state outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis that is linked to bagged peaches from Wawona Packing Company in California.

The original recall includes bagged peaches that were sold from June 1 to August 19 in grocery stores:

Loose/Bulk Peach Recall
The expanded recall includes loose peaches that were sold in bulk bins from June 1 through August 3, typically in bins where consumers could choose their own fruit to buy. They may have stickers with PLU numbers: 4037, 4038, 4044, 4401, 94037, 94038, 94044, 94401.
How Many People Are Sick?
As of August 27, the CDC outbreak investigation reports that 78 people developed laboratory-confirmed Salmonella infections between June 29 and August 3, including 23 people who were hospitalized, in twelve states.
The outbreak involves the following case counts in 12 states: Connecticut (1), Iowa (8), Kentucky (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (17), Minnesota (23), Missouri (1), New Jersey (7), New York (9), Pennsylvania (2), Virginia (3), and Wisconsin (5).

Wegmans Peach Recall
On August 22, Wegmans Food Markets Inc. issued a recall for bagged peaches, loose peaches in bulk bins, and fresh bakery items that contain peaches, due to a risk of Salmonella.

ALDI Peach Recall & Instacart
On August 19, ALDI recalled peaches in 20 states from Wawona Packing Company. ALDI’s recall involves loose bulk peaches, Organic Peaches in 2-pound bags, and Wawona® Peaches in 2-pound bags.
The peaches were recalled in the states of Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts,Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
The peaches were also sold through Instacart, a grocery delivery service that has partnered with ALDI.
