Pedego E-Bikes Recalled for Crash Hazard
Pedego, a e-bike company based in Fountain View, California, issued a recall for about 400 three-wheeled electric Fat Tire Trikes in December 2025 because the frame can crack or break, which may cause the tubes to separate. This may cause riders to fall or crash and suffer severe injuries.
What is the Problem?
Pedego recalled Fat Tire Trikes after 16 reports of the trike frame cracking or breaking, resulting in one injury. According to the recall:
“The trike frame can develop a hairline fracture near a weld, which can cause the tubes to separate, posing fall and laceration hazards.”
How Many People Were Injured?
There was 1 report of a rider who fell and suffered injuries involving lacerations (cuts) on their leg, which required medical attention.
What Should I Do?
Pedego is urging customers to immediately stop using the recalled Fat Tire Trikes, and make sure other members of your household also know about the recall. The trike should not be used until it is repaired.
How Do I Get My Bike Repaired?
If you own a Fat Tire Trike that is affected by the recall, you can register for a free repair at https://pedegoelectricbikes.com/pages/product-recalls.
What Will The Repair Involve?
Affected owners are eligible for a free repair, which will involve installation of a replacement section of the frame.
Pedego explained that it has “re-engineered and strengthened the section of the frame in question.” The repair will be completed at a local Pedego dealer. The parts should be available in March 2026, according to the website.
