Peloton Recalls Clip-In Pedals for Leg Injury Risk
In October 2020, Peloton Interactive. recalled clip-in pedals that can break off unexpectedly during use and cause laceration injuries.
When Were They Sold?
The recall involves PR70P clip-in pedals, which are first-generation pedals. They were fitted on around 27,000 Peloton bikes that were sold between July 2013 and May 2016.
How Many People Were Injured?
Peloton reported 120 consumer complaints of pedals breaking off, including 16 reports of people who suffered leg injuries. At least 5 people needed medical care, such as stitches to the lower leg.
What Pedals Were Recalled?
The recalled pedals are molded with the Peloton logo and the word “PELOTON.” They can be identified by an orange Peloton symbol and white lettering spelling “PELOTON” on the top of the cleat binding.
