May 3, 2021 — Pentair Water Pool and Spa Inc. has recalled about 4,700 StaRite and Mastertemp pool heaters due to a fire hazard.
The problem is that a connection in the heater can leak the combustible air-gas mixture, posing a fire hazard and a risk of burn injuries or property damage.
The recalled Pentair StaRite and Mastertemp pool heaters were sold in various styles and models with manufacturing dates between December 22, 2020 and January 6, 2021.
They were sold by pool equipment distributors nationwide between December 2020 and January 2021 for $2,200 to $3,100.
Pentair is asking consumers to immediately stop using the recalled heaters and contact the company for a free repair.
