May 23, 2025 — Publix grocery stores recalled certain GreenWise Baby Food Pouches due to a risk of lead contamination.
No illnesses were reported, but the baby food “has the potential to be contaminated with elevated levels of lead,” according to Publix.
The recall involves GreenWise Pear, Kiwi, Spinach & Pea Baby Food Pouches that were produced by Bowman Andros LLC.
The baby food comes in a 4-oz. plastic pouch that is labeled with a “Best If Used By” date of 11/01/2025 and GTIN 41415-00901.
These products were distributed to Publix grocery stores in 8 states, including Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky.
No illnesses were reported in the recall. Instead, Publix said it issued the recall “as a result of routine sampling.”
Lead is a toxic metal that has been linked to serious health problems, especially for children and infants. In 2023, hundreds of children were diagnosed with lead poisoning after eating applesauce pouches that were contaminated with very high levels of lead in the cinnamon ingredient.
