February 29, 2024 — Roland Foods has recalled Roland® Tahini (100% Ground Sesame Seeds) in 16-oz. jars because it may be contaminated with Salmonella.
No illnesses were reported, but a jar of Roland Tahini tested positive for Salmonella during routine testing by health officials in Michigan.
The recall involves Roland® Tahini (100% Ground Sesame Seeds) 16 oz., Batch Number P024581, Production Code X0419, UPC Number 10041224701509, with a Best By Date of October 19, 2024.
The product was distributed to many states through retail stores and foodservice outlets between September 2023 and January 2024.
Healthy people who are infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
Salmonella infections may spread into the bloodstream and cause serious, life-threatening complications, such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, arthritis, or death.
