Royal Prestige Pressure Cooker Lawsuit
In May 2025, a lawsuit was filed by a woman who suffered serious burn injuries when the lid of her Royal Prestige Pressure Cooker unexpectedly blew off the pot and ejected scalding-hot food or liquid.
What is a Royal Prestige Pressure Cooker?
Royal Prestige Pressure Cookers are stovetop kitchen appliances that consist of a pot with a locking lid. The website claims that the lid has safety mechanisms, with statements such as: “With four safety mechanisms, this pressure cooker offers you peace of mind to cook at ease.”
What Happened?
The lawsuit was filed by Martha G., a woman from Hillard, Ohio, who was burned in July 2023 while using a Royal Prestige Pressure Cooker (Model No.: CO1258).
According to her lawsuit, she purchased the Royal Prestige Pressure Cooker directly from Hy Cite via one of its “independent distributors.”
On or about July 1, 2023, she suffered “serious and substantial burn injuries” as a result of the “pressure cooker’s lid suddenly and unexpectedly ejecting off the pressure cooker’s pot.”
This incident occurred “during the normal, directed use of the pressure cooker, allowing its scalding hot contents to be forcefully ejected from the pressure cooker and onto Plaintiff,” according to her lawsuit.
What Does Her Lawsuit Claim?
In her lawsuit, she claims that the pressure cooker was “dangerously defective” because the safety features failed to properly lock the lid and prevent it from opening when the unit was pressurized.
Who Was The Lawsuit Filed Against?
She accuses the manufacturer, Hy Cite Enterprises LLC, of putting profit ahead of safety by continuing to sell pressure cookers to consumers, failing to warn consumers about the serious safety risks, and failing to recall the pressure cookers regardless of the risks.
Pressure Cooker Lawsuit Injuries & Compensation
She is seeking compensation for the following injuries:
- Significant and painful bodily injuries
- Medical expenses
- Physical pain
- Mental anguish
- Diminished enjoyment of life
The defendant is Hy Cite Enterprises LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company (LLC).
Her Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed on May 21, 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin — Case: 3:25-cv-00420.
