What is the Risk?
B. cepacia infections pose a serious health risk to people with certain underlying health problems that weaken their immune system, or chronic lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). There is usually a low risk to healthy people, but the infection can be resistant to many commonly-used antibiotics.
