May 29, 2019 — Target, Ralph’s, and other stores recalled over 9,500 containers of La Bella Extreme Sport Styling Gel because it may be contaminated with bacteria.
The Village Company announced a voluntary recall for 22-oz bottles of La Bella Extreme Sport Styling Gel after 4 lots tested positive for bacterial contamination, including Burkholderia cepacia and related strains of bacteria.
B. cepacia rarely causes infections in healthy people, but it poses a serious risk to people with vulnerable immune systems, especially people with cystic fibrosis and chronic lung disease.
The recalled products were manufactured by Kapra Cosmetics Inc. and distributed to stores nationwide since March 5, 2019.
The recalled Lot Numbers include 19057B, 19072C, 19072E, 19072G.
La Bella Extreme Sport Styling Gel was sold nationwide at stores such as Target, Kroger (Food 4 Less and Ralphs), Stater Bros, HEB, Cardinal Health, Certco, Cashco Distributors, Bashas, All Essentials, Yosemite Wholesale – Merced, Supervalu, AJ Express and Latin American Distributors, Inc.
The Village Company was alerted about the potential bacterial contamination on May 15, 2019 and immediately stopped shipping product, quarantined the remaining product, and recalled the rest.
