Step2 Recalls SideKick Learning Towers for Injury Hazard
On September 2, 2021, the Step2 Company recalled about 1,570 StepUp Sidekick Learning Towers due to an injury hazard.
What is the Problem?
The problem is that the step and the storage tray with cup holders can come loose from the tower, posing a fall hazard for children.
What is a Learning Tower?
A learning tower is a type of step-stool for toddler-age children. The stool is designed to elevate the child to counter-height. This allows the child to practice skills in the kitchen alongside a parent, such as using a sink or measuring ingredients for a recipe.
How Many Incidents Were Reported?
The recall was issued after Step2 received 20 reports of the storage tray or steps coming loose from the tower. One child fell and suffered minor bruises.
What Products Were Recalled?
The recall involves Step2 SideKick Learning Towers with model number “4134” molded on the bottom of the tower. The recalled units have manufacturing codes 10-2020, 3-2021 and 5-2021.
They were sold online at Step2.com and online at Amazon.com in May 2021 for about $100.
