Stribild Class Action Lawsuit in California

In May 2018, lawyers filed a class action lawsuit in California on behalf of everyone who took anti-HIV medications that contain Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF).

The plaintiffs in these lawsuits claim that Gilead Sciences knew as far back as 2001 that TDF was “…highly toxic in the doses prescribed and risked permanent and possibly fatal damage to the kidneys and bones.”

HIV Drugs Linked to Bone & Kidney Side Effects

TDF is an older version of Tenofovir that must be taken in high doses to be effective, which increases the risk of severe bone loss, tooth decay, and kidney side effects compared to a newer low-dose version of Tenofovir called TAF.

Stribild Lawsuits

Gilead Sciences is now facing a growing number of lawsuits and class actions from people who accuse the drug-maker of intentionally delaying development of TAF to maximize profits on Stribild and other drugs with the old version of Tenofovir, resulting in many patients developing bone or kidney injury.

About Class Actions

Class action lawsuits are useful when a lot of people are seeking a relatively small payout, such as a refund for a bad product. The problem is that class actions can have disadvantages for people with far more serious injuries because everyone who joins a class action must share the payout.

Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action

Our lawyers file lawsuits against pharmaceutical companies who sell dangerous medications and fail to warn about severe side effects. If you were injured by Stribild, we may be able to help you file a lawsuit, seek justice, and compensation for your injury, medical expenses, permanent disabilities, lost income, and more.
