TJX Recalls 30,600 Nest Swing Egg Chairs After 19 Injuries Reported

In June 2022, The TJX Companies recalled about 30,600 Tommy Bahama® and Martha Stewart® Nest Swing Egg Chairs because they can tip over. At least 19 people suffered injuries (cuts, scrapes, soreness, etc) and 1 person who suffered a serious injury involving broken ribs and a collapsed lung. There were 27 reports of the chairs collapsing or tipping over. The recalled chairs were sold nationwide from December 2018 through April 2022 for between $300 and $350.

TJX Recalls 92,000 Outdoor Wooden Chairs

In May 2021, TJX Companies Inc. recalled about 92,000 outdoor wooden folding chairs due to a fall & injury hazard. The chairs were sold at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods stores nationwide.

TJX Chair LawsuitThe chairs were recalled because they can collapse or break. There were 18 reports of the chairs breaking, including 15 people who fell and suffered minor injuries, including:

  • Cuts and lacerations
  • Back injuries
  • Neck injuries

The recalled chairs were sold nationwide in the U.S. at stores such as T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods, online at tjmaxx.com or sierra.com from June 2018 to January 2021 for about $30.

The chairs have 7 slats on the seat and 8 vertical slats on the seat-back. Some chairs may be labeled with a “Nautica® Home” hang tag, or stamped “MADE IN VIETNAM.”

Consumers should immediately stop using these chairs and contact TJX for information on how to get a $30 refund. Consumers can also return the chairs to T.J. Maxx, Marshalls or HomeGoods for a refund.
