In July 2025, Reser’s Fine Foods announced a recall for certain tuna salad items due to a risk of food poisoning.

No illnesses were reported, but the tuna salad products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which is a type of bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal food poisoning.

Reser’s Fine Foods tuna salad was sold by the pound, and also used in other products, such as sandwiches and trays. These items were sold in the deli or “ready-to-eat” section of grocery stores, including:

What Should I Do?
Health officials are urging anyone who bought these products to thoroughly sanitize any surfaces that may have come into contact with the tuna salad, including your refrigerator. Listeria can survive at refrigerator temperatures, but also on foods in the freezer.
Anyone who ate these recalled products should be vigilant for symptoms of Listeria, which may not appear for up to 10 weeks after eating contaminated food. The highest risk is for pregnant women, infants, elderly adults, and immunocompromised individuals.
