Electric Fireplaces Sold At Lowe’s Recalled for Fire & Burn Hazard

In November 2023, Twin-Star International issued a recall for about 14,670 electric fireplaces that can overheat and catch on fire or cause burn injuries.

What Fireplaces Were Recalled?

The recall involves Style Selections 42-inch-wide Infrared Quartz Electric Fireplaces, which were sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores and online at Lowes.com from September 2021 through January 2023.

Were Any Injuries Reported?

No injuries were linked to the recalled fireplaces, but Twin-Star and Lowe’s received 24 reports of overheating, fire, or smoke incidents, including two reports of property damage.

How To Identify Recalled Fireplaces

The recall involves Twin-Star Style Selections 42-inch-wide, 5,200 BTU, Black Infrared Quartz Electric Fireplace with model No. 42HF295FGT manufactured before January 2023.

These fireplaces have the following date codes: 0521; 0322; 0422; 0522; 0622; 0722; and 0822. “Twin-Star International, Inc.” and the model number are printed on the top panel of the fireplaces.

What Should I Do?

If you own a recalled electric fireplace, immediately stop using and unplug it. Contact Twin-Star for information on how to receive a refund in the form of a $200 pre-paid Mastercard. For more information, visit the recall website at https://twinstarhome.com/recall.
