October 19, 2015 — Two more Oregon companies have recalled canned fish made by Skipanon because they could pose a risk of botulism due to under-processing.
The recalls have not been linked to any reports of illness.
However, seafood that is canned without being sterilized could be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum. This bacteria produces a powerful nerve toxin that can cause botulism, a paralytic illness that can cause death.
