Marketside Soup Kit Recalled Over Listeria Risk
In August 2026, Kettle Cuisine LLC recalled thousands of Walmart’s Marketside® Tomato Bisque Soup Kits after a routine test identified a risk of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The recall covers 3,240 packs of the 14-oz. soup kits. The kits were distributed to select Walmart stores in 29 states.
Did Anyone Get Sick?
No. There were no confirmed illnesses when the recall was announced in August 2026, but it is possible that there are unreported illnesses. The recall was issued proactively when the company’s own routine internal test results were a “presumptive positive result for Listeria monocytogenes,” according to Kettle Cuisine LLC.
What is the Problem?
Healthy people who eat food that is contaminated with Listeria may experience only short-term symptoms, but the infection (known as “listeriosis”) can potentially lead to life-threatening invasive infections, as well as miscarriage and stillbirth in pregnant women.
The FDA describes the risk as follows:
“The product has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.”

No illnesses were confirmed, but there may still be a potential risk because the soup kits have a use-by date of 8/22/26 and may still be in some consumers’ refrigerators or freezers.
