October 21, 2019 — Walmart recalled several frozen, fully-cooked Great Value® pork and turkey sausage patties due to a risk of Salmonella contamination.
The recall was announced by George’s Prepared Foods, of Tennessee, for approximately 6,444 pounds of pork and turkey sausage patties.
No illnesses have been reported. The problem was discovered when the manufacturer reported that their third-party cold storage facility inadvertently shipped the ready-to-eat products to stores nationwide.
The recall involves the following products:
- Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties — 4.92-oz. packages with use-by date of 10/16/19 and Lot Code 1091971894.
- Great Value Fully Cooked Original Breakfast Turkey Patties — 24.92-oz. packages with use-by date of 10/24/19 and Lot Code 1171971897.
- Family Size Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties — 35.6-oz. packages with use-by date of 11/03/19 and Lot Code 1271972894 or use-by date 11/05/19 and Lot Code 1291972894
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. M2206T or P-2260T” printed on the package.
A person who consumes ready-to-eat food that is contaminated with Salmonella can develop salmonellosis, a common type of food poisoning that causes diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever.
Most people recover without needing medical treatment. However, some people become dehydrated due to severe diarrhea or vomiting and must be hospitalized.
