UPDATE: Werner Ladders Recalled for Fall Hazards

In August 2025, Werner recalled about 122,250 Wener Multi-Max Pro Ladders because the locking mechanism can get jammed and fail to lock, which resulted in 18 reports of falls, including 14 reports of serious injuries.

The recall involves Werner Multi-Max Pro Ladders in 20-ft. (Model ALMP-20IAA) and 24-ft. (Model ALMP-24IAA) that were sold at The Home Depot from November 2021 until February 2024.

$4.8 Million Payout in Werner Ladder Lawsuit in Texas

In November 2018, a jury in Denton County, Texas awarded $4.8 million to a man who was severely injured by a Werner ladder that collapsed.

The lawsuit involved a 46-year-old man from Lewisville, Texas, who suffered serious injuries in 2011 when one of the ladder legs bent inward on his Werner Model 354 Type II Ladder.

He fell and suffered crushing injuries to his arm and wrist, which caused a permanent disability to his dominant hand. He filed a lawsuit against Werner, seeking compensation for his injury, loss of income and future earnings, lifelong injuries, medical bills, and other losses.

78,000 Werner Ladders Recalled for Breaking During Use

In June 2018, Werner recalled about 78,000 Werner Multi-Purpose Telescoping Aluminum Ladders that can break while in use, posing a fall hazard to the user. There was 1 report of a ladder breaking, resulting in an injury to the person’s elbow and left side, according to the recall.

The recalled ladders were sold at Home Depot and Lowe’s stores nationwide from April 2018 through May 2018 for about $180 to $275.

The recall includes Werner ladders with date codes 121744XX or 011844XX, and the following model numbers and ladder-heights:

  • MT-IAA-13A (13 feet)
  • MT-IAA-17A (17 feet)
  • MT-IAA-22A (22 feet)
  • MT-IAA-26 (26 feet)
  • MT-IAA-26A (26 feet)
