2.7 Million Bottles of Wet & Forget Outdoor Stain Remover Recalled

In December 2023, Wet & Forget issued a recall for 2.7 million bottles of Wet & Forget® Outdoor Mold & Mildew Stain Remover due to an injury hazard.

What is the Problem?

The problem is that the hose-end nozzle clip can dislodge, which can allow the cleaning solution to spray onto a user. The chemicals can cause skin or eye irritation, as well as “other injuries,” the recall warns.

How Many People Were Injured?

There were 28 reports of people who suffered skin or eye irritation after coming in contact with the cleaning solution. Wet & Forget said it received 3,188 reports of the nozzle insert dislodging, including 157 reports of people who were exposed to the chemicals in the product.

Where Was It Sold?

The recalled bottles of Wet & Forget were sold nationwide from February 2018 through November 2023 at Ace Hardware, Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, True Value, Walmart, other stores and online.

What Bottles of Wet & Forget Were Recalled?

The recalled bottles of Wet & Forget Stain Remover have a hose-end nozzle, which attaches directly to the end of a hose and sprays up to 30 feet, allowing you to clean hard-to-reach places like a roof or deck.

The recall involves the nozzles on Wet & Forget “Xtreme Reach” Outdoor Mold & Mildew Stain Remover (48 oz. & 68 oz.) bottles with hose end nozzles. The stain remover is sold in a blue plastic bottle and has UPCs 879288000077 (48 oz.) and 879288000084 (68 oz.)

What Should I Do?

Stop using the recalled bottles of Wet & Forget “Xtreme Reach” Outdoor Mold & Mildew Stain Remover with Hose End Nozzle and contact the manufacturer for a free replacement nozzle.
