Woolite Recalled for Serious Infection Risk
In March 2025, about 16,200 bottles of Woolite Delicates Laundry Detergent in 50-oz. bottles were recalled due to bacteria contamination that poses a risk of serious, life-threatening infections for vulnerable people.
What is the Risk?
The recalled bottles of Woolite Delicates Laundry Detergent may be contaminated with Pseudomonas species of bacteria, including Pseudomonas oleovorans, which is found in soil and water.
This bacteria can get into the body through the eyes or broken skin, where it may cause serious infections, according to the recall:
“People with weakened immune systems or external medical devices who are exposed to the bacteria face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment. … People with healthy immune systems are usually not affected by the bacteria.”
How To Identify Recalled Bottles of Woolite
The recall involves Woolite Delicates Laundry Detergent in 50-fluid-ounce bottles with Lot Codes S24364, S24365 and S24366 that were sold exclusively on Amazon in January 2025.
The recalled bottles of Woolite Delicates laundry detergent have SKU 62338-72724. The bottles are white with a light-pink label and cap.
What is Pseudomonas?
Pseudomonas infections are typically treated with antibiotics, but it can be resistant to multiple antibiotics. People who are infected with antibiotic-resistant bacteria may need to be hospitalized. There is a risk of serious complications, such as surgery to remove infected tissue, sepsis, or death.
Symptoms of Pseudomonas Infection
The symptoms of a bacteria infection with Pseudomonas vary depending on what part of the body is infected, but they may include:
- Fever
- Chills
