ZroeZroe Heated Insoles Flagged After Burn Injuries Including Skin Grafts
In April 2026, the CPSC warned consumers to immediately stop using ZroeZroe Heated Insoles due to the risk of serious burn injury and fire. There were 10 reports of ignition, fires, and other thermal incidents. Those incidents have resulted in at least 4 reported burn injuries, including 2nd- and 3rd-degree burns that required skin grafts.
Is This a Recall?
No. This is a CPSC product safety warning (not a formal recall) because the Chinese manufacturer, Taiyuan Haoming Electronic Commerce Co., Ltd., has been unresponsive to CPSC requests for a recall or information about this product.
What Is the Problem?
According to the CPSC, the internal lithium-ion battery in ZroeZroe Heated Insoles can overheat and ignite while the insoles are in use, posing a risk of serious burn injury and fire. The insoles are black and red, contain a lithium-ion battery in the heel area. They are operated by a remote control.
Heated Insoles Can Overheat in a Boot or Shoe
When a lithium-ion battery enters thermal runaway, it can generate open flames, extreme temperatures, and toxic smoke within seconds. Because these insoles are worn inside a shoe or boot, a battery ignition traps the fire directly against the user’s foot, making it extremely difficult to remove the footwear before severe burns occur.
Second- and third-degree burns to the foot requiring skin grafts are among the most serious and painful injuries documented in this category of products.
Can I File a Lawsuit Against the Manufacturer?
Because the manufacturer is a Chinese company that has not cooperated with U.S. safety regulators, consumers who were burned could potentially have claims against Amazon and eBay, both of which sold this product in the United States. However, platform liability for defective products sold through third-party marketplaces is an active and evolving area of product liability law, so it is essential to contact and attorney if you have been injured.
How to Identify the Defective Insoles
- Brand name “ZroeZroe” or seller name “ZroeZroe” on the Amazon or eBay purchase receipt
- Black and red insoles with a lithium-ion battery built into the heel area
- Operated by a remote control
- Sold on Amazon.com and eBay
What Should I Do?
The CPSC urges consumers to dispose of the defective ZroeZroe Heated Insoles immediately. Because the battery is a defective lithium-ion device, standard disposal methods are not safe:
- Do not throw the insoles in household trash or curbside recycling
- Do not place them in used battery recycling boxes at hardware or home improvement stores
- Contact your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center — call ahead to confirm they accept defective lithium-ion batteries before bringing the insoles in
- If your HHW center does not accept defective lithium-ion batteries, contact your municipality for further guidance
- Report any safety incidents to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov
There is no recall remedy available from the manufacturer. If you were burned by these insoles, contacting a product liability lawyer is the most important step you can take to protect your rights.
A Growing Problem With Heated Insoles Sold on Amazon
ZroeZroe is not the first heated insole brand to draw a CPSC safety warning for lithium-ion battery fires. The CPSC has issued similar warnings for multiple brands of heated insoles sold on Amazon, all involving Chinese manufacturers that are unresponsive to safety regulators. In each case, Amazon has remained a potential defendant because it served as the platform through which the defective product reached U.S. consumers.
