CPSC Warns Consumers About Junsyoung Heated Insoles

In March 2026, the CPSCP issued an urgent warning about Junsyoung® heated insoles that can potentially overheat and catch on fire, which poses a serious safety hazard.

The insoles have an internal lithium-ion battery that can potentially overheat and ignite while in use. This poses a fire hazard and a risk of serious burn injuries, according to the CPSC warning.

Unfortunately, no refund is available to consumers. JunShengyoung, the Chinese manufacturer, has been unresponsive to CPSC requests for a recall or product information. Because there is no formal recall remedy, the CPSC is urging consumers to dispose of the insoles as hazardous waste.

The defective insoles were sold on Amazon from July 2023 through March 2024 under the brand name “Junsyoung” or the seller name “JAMRIC.”

What is the Problem?

The problem involves the lithium-ion battery that is embedded in the heel area of the insoles. When these batteries fail, they can overheat and enter a chain reaction known as thermal runaway. This is a condition in which rising heat generates more heat, causing temperatures to spike rapidly and producing open flames, toxic smoke, and extreme heat in a matter of seconds.

In an enclosed shoe or boot, the battery’s heat has nowhere to go. The shoe or boot may be difficult to remove quickly, and the wearer may not recognize what is happening until a serious burn has already occurred. Lithium-ion battery fires can reach temperatures of 800–1,000 degrees Fahrenheit, far exceeding the threshold at which third-degree burns occur.

An additional danger documented with similar products is that defective lithium-ion batteries in heated insoles can ignite even when turned off. The CPSC has noted this risk in warnings for other heated insole brands including iHeat and Tajarly, warning that the batteries can explode and ignite during storage, charging, or normal use — not just during active heating sessions.

“CPSC is warning consumers to stop using Junsyoung heated insoles immediately because the internal lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite while in use, posing a risk of serious burn injury and fire hazard.”

How Many People Were Burned or Injured?

The CPSC is aware of four reports of ignition, fires, and other thermal incidents involving the defective Junsyoung heated insoles. Those incidents resulted in burn injuries including:

  • Second-degree burns requiring medical treatment
  • Third-degree burns requiring surgical skin grafting
  • Fire damage from ignition of the insoles and surrounding materials

Are There Any Lawsuits?

Yes. Lawsuits have been filed by people who were severely burned by heated insoles. In February 2026, a federal lawsuit was filed in Idaho by a man who suffered severe burns and permanent nerve damage after a Tajarly heated insole caught fire inside his boot while he was working. He now lives with chronic pain, difficulty standing, and lasting impairment affecting his gait and ability to perform physical labor. There are also other examples of lawsuits involving heated insoles.

How To Identify the Product

Consumers can identify the defective insoles using the following information:

  • Appearance: Black and red insoles with a lithium-ion battery in the heel area; operated by a remote control
  • Brand name: “Junsyoung” (printed on product) or seller name “JAMRIC” (found on Amazon purchase receipt)
  • Sold at: Amazon.com
  • Sale period: July 2023 through March 2024
  • Manufactured in: China

What Should I Do?

Stop using the Junsyoung heated insoles immediately. Do not use them, charge them, or store them in an enclosed or flammable environment. The CPSC is urging consumers to dispose of the insoles as hazardous waste following these guidelines:

  • Do not throw the insoles in the regular trash or standard recycling bins
  • Do not place them in used battery recycling boxes at retail or home improvement stores
  • Do contact your local municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center — call ahead to confirm they accept defective lithium-ion batteries before bringing the insoles in
  • Do report any incidents to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov
  • Do preserve the insoles and any packaging as potential evidence if you were injured

Full disposal guidance is available on the official CPSC warning page.
