BISSELL Recalls 1.7 Million OmniReach Steam Cleaners

On April 9, 2026, BISSELL recalled more than 1.7 million Steam Shot OmniReach and Steam Shot Omni Steam Cleaners due to a burn hazard.

According to the CPSC recall notice, the attachments on these steam cleaners can come off during use, allowing hot water or steam to spray onto consumers, posing a burn hazard.

How Many People Were Burned?

The CPSC said it received 206 reports of hot water or steam discharging unexpectedly from the attachments, including 161 reports of burn injuries and at least one 2nd-degree burn.

Where Were They Sold?

The recalled steam cleaners were sold at Target, Walmart, and other stores, as well as online at bissell.com, Amazon.com, HSN, and other websites from October 2024 through March 2026, for between $9 and $55.

How To Identify Recalled Steam Cleaners

This recall involves BISSELL Steam Shot OmniReach Steam Cleaners and Steam Shot Omni Steam Cleaners. The model numbers are printed on the bottom of the device. A full list of affected model numbers is available on the BISSELL recall website.

This is a separate recall from the July 2024 recall of about 3 million older BISSELL Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaner series.

If you own a model purchased between October 2024 and March 2026, check the CPSC page and BISSELL’s recall site to confirm whether your specific model number is included.

Can I Get a Refund?

BISSELL is offering affected consumers a choice of remedy. To register for a remedy, consumers should visit BISSELL.com/steamshotrecall and follow the instructions, which include providing the model number. Remedy options and specific instructions are available on that page.

What Happened?

BISSELL steam cleaners work by heating water into steam and forcing it through an attachment nozzle. In the recalled OmniReach and Omni models, the attachments can detach during use, creating an opening through which scalding hot water or steam can discharge suddenly onto the person holding the device or anyone nearby.

Steam burns (also called scalds) occur when hot water or steam comes into contact with skin. They typically cause 1st- or 2nd-degree burns, which can be extremely painful and may result in blistering, scarring, and lasting damage.

A History of BISSELL Steam Cleaner Recalls

This is not the first time BISSELL has recalled a steam cleaner for burn injuries. In July 2024, BISSELL recalled approximately 3.2 million Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaners that were sold from August 2008 through May 2024 after 183 reports of hot water or steam escaping from the product, including 157 burn injuries.

Those earlier Steam Shot models were recalled for a related but distinct defect involving water or steam escaping from the product itself during heating or use, rather than from a detaching attachment. For more information on that prior recall, see our BISSELL Steam Cleaner Lawsuit page.

What Consumers Should Do

If you own a BISSELL Steam Shot OmniReach or Steam Shot Omni purchased between October 2024 and March 2026, BISSELL urges you to stop using the product immediately. Check your model number on the CPSC recall page and register for your remedy at BISSELL.com/steamshotrecall.
