Deuter Kid Comfort Baby Carriers Recalled for Fall Hazard
In May 2025, the backpack-manufacturing company Deuter announced a recall for 5,080 Kid Comfort Child Carriers because children can fall and suffer injuries.
What is the Problem?
Kid Comfort Child Carriers were recalled because the hinges on the foldable rear kickstand support leg can crack or break, which poses a fall hazard and a risk of serious injuries to the child in the backpack.
Were Any Injuries Reported?
No injuries were reported, but Deuter said it received 13 reports of the hinges cracking and breaking.
How To Identify Recalled Baby Carriers
Kid Comfort Child Carriers are backpack-style baby carriers for adults to carry children while hiking. They are designed with a foldable rear kickstand to keep the backpack upright when it is set on the ground.
Deuter recalled three types of Kid Comfort Child Carriers, including:
- Kid Comfort: Model #3621221 (Color: Maroon)
- Kid Comfort: Model #3621221 (Color: Forest)
- Kid Comfort Pro: Model #3621321 (Color: Midnight)
- Kid Comfort Active: Model #3621121 (Color: Teal)
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled child carriers were sold at REI, Bass Pro, other stores in the U.S., Amazon.com, and other websites from March 2023 through March 2025 for between $240 and $370.
