85,000 Hedge Trimmers Recalled for Laceration Hazard
In June 2023, Chevron North America recalled more than 85,000 EGO POWER+ Hedge Trimmers after 9 people in the U.S. and Canada suffered severe lacerations that needed stitches.
What is the Problem?
The rear switch trigger can fail to rebound after being pressed, which can cause the unit to activate unexpectedly, posing a laceration hazard, according to the recall notice.

How Many Incidents Were Reported?
In the U.S., there were 34 reports of the recalled hedge trimmers starting unexpectedly, including 8 people who suffered lacerations that needed stitches.
According to Health Canada, there were 3 reports of incidents in Canada and 1 report of a laceration as of May 10, 2023.
Was My Hedge Trimmer Recalled?
This recall involves EGO Power+ Cordless Brushless Hedge Trimmers (model number HT2410). Only units with date codes from September 2017 through March 2019 are included in the recall.
The EGO logo is displayed on one side of the product housing, and the model number HT2410 and manufacturing date code are displayed on the opposite side.
They were sold from September 2017 through March 2020 at home improvement stores, hardware stores, authorized dealers and distributors, and online.
