Fisher-Price Soothe ‘n Play Glider Recall
On June 3, 2021, Fisher-Price recalled the 2-in-1 Soothe ‘n Play Gliders because babies can suffocate to death. No deaths were linked to the recalled Soothe ‘n Play baby gliders, but the products are very similar to another product — the 4-in-1 Rock ‘n Glide Soother — which was linked to at least 4 infant deaths between April 2019 and February 2020
What Baby Gliders Were Recalled?
The recalled Soothe ‘n Play Gliders have an inclined seat with a powered rocker that moves in a side-to-side or head-to-toe motion.
The recall involves about 55,000 Soothe ‘n Play Gliders. The products were sold nationwide from November 2018 through May 2021 for about $125 at major stores like Walmart, Target, and amazon.com. The products are labeled with model numbers GDD28, GDD39, GDD41, GGW85, GNX43, GVG43, HBD26 or HBD27.
Inclined Sleepers Linked to 100+ Baby Deaths
Inclined sleepers are a group of baby products that are linked to more than 100 infant deaths and hundreds of incidents. Babies can suffocate when they roll over, or under under circumstances.
In recent years, manufacturers voluntarily recalled millions of products, like the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper — but many products were not recalled.
In June 2021, federal regulators announced major new safety standards to “effectively eliminate” these dangerous inclined baby sleeping products from the marketplace, including gliders, swings, rockers, and bassinets.
