FlyBar Recalls Swurfer Baby & Toddler Swing for Fall Hazard
In May 2020, FlyBar Inc. recalled about 3,000 Swurfer Kiwi Baby and Toddler Swings because babies can fall out and suffer injuries.
What is the Problem?
Each of the four ropes on the Kiwi swing uses a plastic stopper to secure the rope to the Kiwi. Customers have complained that the stopper loosened or fell off, allowing the rope to detach from the swing, according to the recall notice on the company website.
No injuries were reported. The company said it has received 6 reports of the rope-end detaching.
Was My Baby Swing Recalled?
The recall involves the Swurfer® Kiwi Baby and Toddler Swings. The plastic swing is sold in green, blue and pink. The swing attaches to a swing set or a tree branch.
The swing weighs about 4 pounds. FlyBar, Inc. and Kiwi Swing SSW-0005 are printed on the underside of the swing. The manufacture date code of August 2019 is embossed on the back of the swing.
They were sold online at Swurfer.com, FlyBar.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com and at independent stores nationwide from October 2019 through March 2020 for about $80.
What Should I Do?
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled swings and contact the company to receive instructions to repair the swings.
The company is asking customers to fix the problem by pulling approximately 6″ of rope through the swing, making an overhand knot in the rope, pulling the rope to tighten the knot securely, and repeating these steps on the remaining 3 ropes. Click here for pictures.
