Frontgate Chaise Lounge Chairs Recalled After Finger Injuries Reported

In June 2024, about 70,000 Frontgate Chaise Lounge Chairs were recalled after severe finger injuries were reported when consumers tried to adjust the backrest.

What is the Risk?

  • Amputations
  • Partial finger amputations
  • Finger crushing injuries

What is the Problem?

The manufacturer received 3 reports of consumers’ fingers becoming trapped between the adjustable backrest and the frame of the chair. These incidents resulted in 2 partial finger amputation injuries, and one finger-crushing injury that required surgery.

How To Identify Recalled Lounge Chairs

The recall involves Frontgate Resort Collection Newport Aluminum and Teak Chaise Lounge Chairs.

The Aluminum Chaises (SKU 67333) were sold in sets of two in five different colors: architectural bronze, champagne silver, cobalt, matte black and matte white. The Teak Chaises (SKU 166218) were sold in sets of two in weathered and natural finishes

The chairs have an adjustable backrest that reclines to 4 positions, from upright to fully reclined. The name “FRONTGATE” is printed in black lettering on a silver badge at the back of the chair.

Where Were They Sold?

The recalled chaise lounge chairs were sold Frontgate stores in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas, and online at Frontgate.com and in Frontgate catalogues from February 2014 through December 2023.
