ZWILLING ENFINIGY Kettles Recalled After 163 Handle Separation Reports
In May 2026, ZWILLING J.A. Henckels Aktiengesellschaft recalled approximately 113,440 ENFINIGY electric kettles in the United States due to a burn hazard. The recall covers two models: the ZWILLING ENFINIGY Electric Kettle (1.5 L) and the ZWILLING ENFINIGY Electric Kettle Pro (1.5 L). An additional 43,963 units were sold in Canada and 48 in Mexico.
What is the Problem?
According to the CPSC, the kettle’s handle can loosen and separate from the kettle, causing hot contents to spill, posing a risk of serious injury due to a burn hazard.
“The kettle’s handle can loosen and separate from the kettle, causing hot contents to spill, posing a risk of serious injury due to a burn hazard.”
When a kettle handle fails mid-pour or while being lifted, near-boiling water can spill directly onto the hands, arms, legs, or feet of the person holding it.
How Many People Were Burned?
In the recall, ZWILLING said it has received 163 reports of the kettle’s handle separating or loosening. Of those, 5 are reports of “incidents” tied to handle separation, and 1 of those incidents was a 2nd-degree burn injury.
No further description was given in the recall, but a 2nd-degree burn from hot water affects both the outer skin and the layer beneath it. Symptoms include blistering, deep redness, swelling, and severe pain. Treatment can require emergency care, prescription wound dressings, and weeks of healing. Severe scald burns may also leave scarring.
Reported injuries linked to the recalled kettles include:
- 2nd-degree burns from hot water spilling out when the handle separated
- Scald burns to the hands, arms, and torso from defective handle attachments
- Injuries linked to handle loosening during normal use
