January 7, 2019 — HyVee, Inc., of Des Moines, Iowa, recalled dozens of varieties of cheesecake sold in 8 states due to a possible risk of Salmonella contamination.
The recall involves 32 types of cheesecake that were made with a mix manufactured by Diamond Crystal Brands. The contamination was discovered by a supplier, according to a recall notice posted by Hy-Vee on January 4.
The recalled cheesecake was sold in plastic containers with a plastic lid, in either 8-ounce or 32-ounce sizes, with “Best-Before” dates between December 6, 2018 and January 11, 2019.
The cheesecakes were sold at 117 Hy-Vee grocery stores in the following 8 states: Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
No illnesses have been reported. Infections with Salmonella typically cause fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea for about 1 week. Most healthy adults recover without needing medical treatment, but infections with Salmonella can potentially be life-threatening.
