February 2, 2023 — A class action lawsuit has been filed in California against a company that sold electric heating pads that caused burns, skin irritation, rashes, and other injuries.
The lawsuit was filed against Whele LLC, a company that sold Mighty Bliss Heating Pads from July 2021 through September 2022.
During that time, at least 286 people reported that the heating pad overheated, sparked, or caused injuries like burns and skin irritation.
On October 24, 2022, Whele recalled more than 544,000 Mighty Bliss Electric Heating Pads, which was later upgraded to a Class 1 recall by the FDA.
The class action was filed by Jordan N., a woman who said she suffered skin irritation and rashes after using a Mighty Bliss Electric Heating Pad that she purchased from Whele’s seller on Amazon.com.
Furthermore, she claims that she tried to get a refund, but Whele issued no financial compensation to people who were injured.
She is seeking to represent a nationwide class of people in the U.S. who purchased the Mighty Bliss Electric Heating Pad, as well as a California sub-class for violations of California state laws.
The class action lawsuit was filed against Whele LLC (doing business as Perch) on January 30, 2023 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California — Case Number 4:23-cv-00430-TSH.
