July 25, 2022 — Organic Amaranth Grain from Natural Grocers stores in 20 states has been recalled due to a risk of Salmonella food poisoning.
The recall was announced by a Colorado-based manufacturer, Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets Inc.
No illnesses were reported. Instead, the recall was issued after a supplier reported a positive test for Salmonella in specific lots of Organic Amaranth Grain.
The recalled products were sold under the Natural Grocers® brand-name in clear plastic bags weighing 1 pound. The recall only applies to the following pack dates: 22-102, 22-103, 22-130, and 22-194.
The recalled Organic Amaranth Grain was distributed to Natural Grocers stores in the following states: Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
Healthy adults who are infected with Salmonella may experience food poisoning symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
