nvyue Magic Pocket Staffs Recalled After 163 Injuries Reported
On April 16, 2026, Xingwenfeng, the Chinese importer of nvyue Magic Pocket Staffs, voluntarily recalled approximately 25,000 units in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall covers Magic Pocket Staffs sold in gold, silver, or black, in either 110cm (3.6 feet) or 150cm (4.9 feet) expanded lengths.
The staffs were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from September 2020 through March 2026 for between $8 and $26. If you or your child purchased a Magic Pocket Staff on Amazon during that period, it may be covered by this recall.
- Recalled by: Xingwenfeng, of China
- Product: nvyue Magic Pocket Staff (gold, silver, or black; 110cm or 150cm expanded length)
- Recall date: April 16, 2026
- Units affected: About 25,000
- Hazard: The protective pin mechanism can fail to prevent unintentional expansion, posing serious projectile and laceration hazards; even when engaged, the expansion occurs too rapidly for consumers to react
- Injuries reported: 163 reports of incidents involving injuries to the eyes, face, and hands, including corneal lacerations, temporary vision loss, and injuries requiring stitches; many victims are children as young as 9 years old
- Where sold: Amazon.com, September 2020 through March 2026, for $8–$26
- What to do: Stop using immediately; contact Xingwenfeng for a full refund
- Official source: CPSC recall notice
What Is the Hazard?
The protective pin mechanism on the Magic Pocket Staffs can fail to prevent unintentional expansion, posing serious projectile and laceration hazards. Even when the pin appears fully engaged, the expansion occurs too rapidly for consumers to react, leaving virtually no opportunity for protection.
According to the CPSC:
“The protective pin mechanism on the Magic Pocket Staffs can fail to prevent unintentional expansion, posing serious projectile and laceration hazards. Even when engaged, the expansion occurs too rapidly for consumers to react, leaving virtually no opportunity for protection.”
Why Do These Staffs Deploy Unexpectedly?
The staffs arrive in a tightly compressed cylinder. In many cases, the protective pin was found to not be fully engaged at the time of purchase, meaning the risk of sudden, violent deployment was present from the moment the product was unboxed. When these staffs launch unexpectedly, they can strike the eyes, face, and hands at close range.
How Many People Were Injured?
The CPSC has received 163 reports of incidents involving injuries to the eyes, face, and hands. That is an exceptionally high incident count for a product recall of this size. Confirmed injury types include corneal lacerations, temporary vision loss, and wounds serious enough to require stitches.
Many of the 163 reported victims are children, some as young as 9 years old. If your child was struck in the eye by a Magic Pocket Staff and needed emergency care, that experience is consistent with what the CPSC documented in dozens of other cases.
Who Is Liable?
Xingwenfeng, the Chinese importer, is the company that announced this recall. However, when a Chinese manufacturer or importer is unresponsive or unreachable, Amazon, as the retail platform through which all 25,000 of these staffs were sold, may also carry liability as a seller of a defective product. The CPSC recall specifically identifies Amazon.com as the sole point of sale for these staffs.
Product liability law in most states can potentially hold retailers responsible when they sell defective products that injure consumers, regardless of where the product was manufactured. Our lawyers can evaluate whether Amazon’s role in distributing this product makes it a viable defendant in your case.
What Should You Do With a Recalled Magic Pocket Staff?
The CPSC instructs consumers to stop using the recalled Magic Pocket Staff immediately. To receive a full refund, you should contact Xingwenfeng and follow their instructions: write your initials and the current date on the staff in permanent marker, photograph it, and email the photo to nvyue_recall@163.com. You will then be instructed to safely expand the staff before disposal.
Do not give the staff to another person or sell it. Federal law prohibits the sale of recalled products.
Can I File a Lawsuit If I Was Injured?
Victims of the nvyue Magic Pocket Staff recall may have legal options. If you or your child suffered an eye injury, facial laceration, or hand injury when one of these staffs unexpectedly expanded, you may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages. Time limits apply to product liability claims, so the sooner you contact a lawyer, the better.
