Paradise Grills Recalls 18,000 Outdoor Kitchens After 2 Explosions Reported
In February 2023, Paradise Grilling Systems recalled about 18,000 First Generation Outdoor Kitchens due to a risk of propane explosions, massive fires, and serious burn injuries.
What Happened?
Liquid propane gas can accumulate inside the closed lid and cabinets due to a lack of ventilation around the propane tank. Propane gas can suddenly explode when the consumer re-lights the grill.
Paradise Grills reported 2 explosions, which caused “severe burns to the consumers,” according to the recall notice.
Lawsuit Filed by Severely Burned Man in Florida
In February 2023, a lawsuit was filed against Paradise Grilling Systems by a man from Florida who suffered severe injuries. He claims that he “attempted to start the Grill and the bottom of the Grill unexpectedly and violently exploded.” He blames the explosion on “improper ventilation around the propane chamber.”
Was My Outdoor Kitchen Recalled?
The recall involves 1st-generation Paradise Grills Outdoor Kitchens. They can have cabinets, sinks, refrigerators, and other features such as LED lighting, Tiki Huts, commercial grills, granite and more.
The recalled models are the GX-3, GX-4, GX-5, GX-6, GX-7, GX-8, GX-9, GX-10, GX-11 GX12 and GX14, Tahiti, Fiji, Tropicana, Aruba 6 and Aruba 8. The model name is listed on the sales agreement.
They were sold at Paradise Grills showrooms and at home, boat and RV shows nationwide from January 2009 through December 2020 for between $4,000 and $15,000.
What Should I Do?
Paradise Grills is asking consumers to immediately stop using the grills on the recalled outdoor kitchens and contact the company to get a new 16″x 4″ stainless steel vent to be installed.
If you live in Florida, Texas, Georgia or Alabama, you can contact Paradise Grills to schedule a date for completion of their free repair. This includes labor and a new vent.
If you live in another state, you can contact Paradise Grills to get a free shipment of the vent, installation instructions, and reimbursement for the installation cost by a qualified professional or technician.
