Rust-Oleum Recalls Aerosol Pain for Injury Hazard
On January 6, 2021, Rust-Oleum recalled around 10,500 cans of Professional Bright Galvanizing Compound due to an injury hazard.
What is the Problem?
Rust-Oleum warned that the bottom of the pressurized container can “detach unexpectedly, posing an injury hazard” according to the recall.
How Many People Were Injured?
The recall was announced after 6 reports of the bottom of the container detaching, including 1 person who was injured.
How To Identify A Recalled Product
Rust-Oleum® Professional Bright Galvanizing Compound was sold in a 20-ounce silver can with a silver cap. The recall only includes items with Product #7584838 and batch code #H0304A. It is an aerosol paint spray in a pressurized can that is used to prevent rust and corrosion on metal surfaces.
Where Were They Sold?
They were sold nationwide at Lowe’s, Menards, other hardware stores, online at Lowes.com, and other websites from March 2020 to October 2020 for about $10.
What Should I Do?
Consumers should stop using the product and contact Rust-Oleum for a full refund, and information on safe disposal of the product.
