Sperax Walking Pads Flagged After 66 Injuries — Company Refuses to Recall
In April 2026, the CPSC warned consumers to immediately stop using Sperax walking pads and treadmills due to fall, burn, and fire hazards.
The CPSC issued the warning (rather than a formal recall) because the importer, Quanzhou Wentelai Import and Export Trading Co., Ltd., d/b/a Sperax, refused to agree to an acceptable recall.
Under Section 6(b) of the Consumer Product Safety Act, Sperax was given the opportunity to submit comments on the CPSC’s press release. The company objected to it. Despite that objection, the CPSC published the warning anyway, which is a step the agency takes when it believes consumers face an unreasonable risk of injury and the company will not act.
The affected models — Pro, Q1, RM-01, and RM-02 — are black with red trim. The model number appears on a label near the power switch. All affected units were sold exclusively through online platforms: Amazon.com, Walmart.com, NewEgg.com, and eBay.com.
What Is the Problem with Sperax Walking Pads?
According to the CPSC, the Sperax walking pads and treadmills can suddenly and unexpectedly change speeds or come to an abrupt stop during use. When a walking pad stops without warning while a user is mid-stride, there is no time to react — the user is thrown forward or off balance, often falling hard onto the floor or nearby furniture.
How Many Incidents Were Reported?
The CPSC said it received 201 reports of uncontrollable speed, abrupt stops, and similar stability-related failures. That number only represents documented reports. Many users who fell but did not report the incident may also have suffered injuries. The 66 confirmed falls and injuries include at least one concussion that required medical attention, which means at least one person sustained a traumatic brain injury from this product.
Separately, the CPSC received 573 reports of overheating, fires, and other thermal incidents involving the same products, including 4 reports of minor burns. A product that poses both a fall hazard and a fire hazard (and whose manufacturer refuses to recall it) creates a safety risk for anyone who still owns one.
How Many People Were Injured by Sperax Walking Pads?
As of April 2026, the CPSC is aware of:
- 201 reports of uncontrollable speed, abrupt stops, and stability-related failures
- At least 66 confirmed falls or injuries
- At least 1 concussion requiring medical attention
- 573 reports of overheating, fires, and thermal incidents
- 4 reports of minor burns
These are confirmed figures from the CPSC’s own records as of the date of the warning. Because no formal recall has been issued, many injured consumers may not know the CPSC has flagged the product. This means the actual number of unreported injuries is likely far higher.
Which Sperax Products Are Affected?
The CPSC warning covers Sperax-brand walking pads and treadmills in the following models:
- Sperax Pro
- Sperax Q1
- Sperax RM-01
- Sperax RM-02
All affected products are black with red trim. The model number is printed on a label located near the power switch. The products were manufactured in China by Quanzhou Wentelai Import and Export Trading Co., Ltd., operating under the brand name Sperax, and were sold exclusively through online platforms including Amazon.com, Walmart.com, NewEgg.com, and eBay.com.
What Should You Do If You Own a Sperax Walking Pad?
The CPSC is urging consumers to stop using the affected Sperax walking pads and treadmills immediately. Unlike a standard recall, there is no remedy or refund being offered through the company. The CPSC is advising consumers to dispose of the products and not to sell or give them away, as doing so would expose another user to the same hazard.
Incidents involving Sperax walking pads or treadmills can be reported directly to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov. If you were injured, documenting your experience with the CPSC creates an official record that may be relevant to any legal claim.
Can I Sue Sperax If I Was Injured?
A company’s refusal to recall a dangerous product does not eliminate its legal responsibility for injuries that product causes. In fact, when a company is aware of a documented safety hazard, that refusal can demonstrate that the company had notice of the danger.
Consumers who fell off a Sperax walking pad or treadmill and were injured may have claims against the importer, the Chinese manufacturer, and potentially the platforms — Amazon, Walmart, NewEgg, and eBay — through which the product was sold. Time limits apply to product liability claims, so the sooner you contact a lawyer, the better.
