Target Recalls 199,000 Vivitar Blenders for Laceration Risk

In April 2025, Target and Sakar International announced a recall for about 199,000 Vivitar Blender Bottles due to a laceration hazard from the blades.

What is the Problem?

Vivitar Blender Bottles were recalled because the blades might not stop spinning when the bottle is removed from the base, which poses a risk of laceration injuries (cuts) if a user touches the sharp blades. According to the recall:

“The blender’s blades can continue to operate when the bottle is not attached to the blender, posing a laceration hazard.”

What Happened?

No injuries were reported when the recall was issued on April 3, 2025.

However, there was one report where the consumer was able to remove the bottle from the base while the blades were engaged.

How To Identify Recalled Blenders

The recall involves Vivitar Blender Bottles, which were sold for $5 exclusively at Target. The products are handheld blenders with a removable bottle that can be attached and detached from a base. The base has a power button and spinning blades that blend up food.

The bottle is made of clear plastic, which attaches to a white plastic base. On the underside of the base is a sticker that reads:

  • VIVITAR
  • Description: Blender Bottle
  • ITEM: ES15-BB-TA
  • MID #5220824

Where Were They Sold?

Vivitar Blenders were sold for $5 at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com from December 2024 through January 2025.

Can I Get a Refund?

Yes. The manufacturer, Sakar International Inc., is offering a full refund in the form of a $5 gift card to Target.

Customers should not return the blenders to Target to get a refund. Instead, visit the Vivitar Blender recall website at https://www.vivitar.com/pages/recalls for information on how to return the blenders to Sakar for a refund.
